Biography william Dawson Armstrong, pupil of G.M.Garratt, Clarence Eddy, Charles Kunkel, E. R. Kroeger. Directed Armstrong School of Music in Alton, professor of piano at Western Military Academy, Upper Alton. Music director at Shurtleff College 1890-1909, Organist St. Paul's Alton 1888-90, Church of the Redeemer, St. Louis 1890-1900, Church of Unity, St. Louis, 1900-1908. In Alton in 1910. " O Salutaris Hostia," by W. D. Armstrong, for soprano or tenor solo and mixed chorus, is well worth the attention of the Roman Catholic Church. It is short, on classic models, churchly and effective, and has been accepted by the Cincinnati Diocesan Commis sion on Church Music. It is dedicated to his friend Arthur J. H.
