Life
Born: May 20, 1861, Buffalo NY
Died: April 6, 1924, New York City
Biography Born to Jean Baptiste (born in Nancy, France) and Francoise Dossert. Dossert pere was organist at the cathedral of Buffalo and first conductor of the Buffalo Liedertafel. Ca, 1876, succeeds his father as Cathedral music director, ca, 1879-1892 organist at St. Stephen's, NYC. While at St. Stephen's, given leave to study with Jadassohn in Leipzig. 1893, goes to Rome at invitation of Leo XIII to produce Messe Solemnelle at St. Peters. Founding member of AGO. Married June 23. 1892 to Mary R. Creamer; 2 children, Francis Charles and Christine Isolde. Took up residence in Paris. Returned to US in 1911 and taught singing.
